Frequently Asked Questions - Camps

Q: Can I sign my child up for a daily camp rate?

A: Yes, if there is space available. Per day rates are $75.

Q: I have already registered but have decided to cancel my child(ren)'s spot, it is very close to camp, is this ok?

A: Yes, however, any cancellations that are requested after registration has closed will incur a $100 cancellation fee.

Q: Will I incur a late fee if I make payment after the registration deadline on the camp flyer?

A: Yes, if you fail to make payment prior to the registration deadline as stated on the camp flyer, then you will incur a $50 late fee.  Your child will not be accepted unless payment is made in full.

Q: I see that the camp is completely booked, are there any options for securing a spot during a future week?

A: It is possible, depending on if we receive any cancellations. Please email us your desired week(s) to have your child placed on a waiting list.

Q: What is the kid to staff ratio?

A: 15 kids to two counsellors and one supervisor. 

Q: How can I know where my child will be during the day?

A: During each camp, an updated schedule can be found on the Planet Math website.

Q: How are the kids split into groups?

A: The kids are split up according to age, usually ages 5-7, 8-9, and 10-12.

Q: What is the camp age range?

A: Typically our camp age range is 5-12 years old. 

Q: When can I collect my t-shirt(s)?

A: Collection date will be emailed out per camp, typically on a Saturday prior to the start of camp. 

Q: My child lost their belongings, do you have a lost and found?

A: Yes, we do have a lost and found, but please note that Planet Math is not responsible for any lost or misplaced belongings. We request that you label all of your child's items that they bring to camp. 

Q: I go to work early, can I drop my child off prior to the camp's start time?

A: No, the earliest drop off time is 8:30 am, no exceptions. 

Q: Can I pick my child up later than the camp's daily closing time?

A: Yes, however, you will incur a late pickup fee each time. 

Q: What is your means for transportation during camp time?

A: Planet Math uses public transportation and occasionally private minibus services.

Q: What time can I collect my child at the end of the day?

A: We aim to be back at Planet Math from all outings by 4:30 pm daily leaving half an hour in case of an unexpected delay. Children can then be picked up from 5:00 pm onward. 

Q: My child has an appointment, what should I do?

A: Please email or call Planet Math in advance to notify us of the appointment and then make arrangements to meet us and collect your child at the necessary location. 

Q: What time is breakfast? 

A: 8:30 am - 9:00 am 

Q: My child was sick for a few days of camp, am I eligible for a refund?

A: Please refer to our refund policy

Q: My child was away for a few days of camp, am I eligible for a refund?

A: Please refer to our refund policy

Q: My child had an accident and missed a few days of camp, am I eligible for a refund?

A: Please refer to our refund policy.

Q: My child did not attend camp for a few days, am I eligible for a refund?

A: Please refer to our refund policy.

Q: I see that registration has closed, can I still sign my child(ren) up?

A: Yes, however, any sign-ups that are completed after registration has closed will incur a $50 admin fee.

Q: How old must my child be to attend a Planet Math camp?

A: The age range for eligible camp participants for camps is any 4-year-old children who turn 5 by Dec. 31, 2022, can attend. By law, children who turned 4 this year or are aged 3 and under cannot attend a camp, as they fall under the Child Care Regulations (20zz).

The Education Act stipulates that compulsory education is for children between the ages of 5 and 16; while pre-primary is the optional stage of education for children aged 4 years old. Exceptions are schools, which are allowed to implement Early Years or Foundation Years, wherein children may be as young as 3 years of age.
